How did the English language begin, and how did it become so widespread?

Fifty countries have English as an official language. With approximately 20% of the world's population speaking English, one wonders from where it all began. How has English spread its wings across the world? Where is English currently standing? In the upcoming section, we will discuss the history of the English language.

As we become aware of the depths of the popular language, consider how understanding the twists of the English journey helps you understand why English's rules are complicated and often contradictory. A thorough understanding of the interdependent nature of the language holds a major appreciation for the rules exceptions.

Where It All Began?

Many of you will probably assume that studying an English language course includes English grammar more than everything else. While English grammar is important when learning English, it is only a small part of the entire curriculum. Beyond grammar, students are introduced to a rich history affected by the battles, myths, and legends on the one hand, and the everyday workings of its different social classes on the other.

According to some reports, the English language itself took its standards higher with the invasion of Britain during the 5th century. Three Germanic tribes, the Jute's, Saxons, and Angles, were looking for new lands to conquer and crossed over from the North Sea. It should be noted that the English language, you know and learn through various language courses nowadays, was not yet designed, as the inhabitants of Britain spoke a different dialect of the Celtic language.

How The English Language Spread?

English ultimately spread beyond England. Specifically, with the English's immigration, the English language, traveled as an unknown stowaway, all set to make its presence known once it was unpacked in the new world. And this has led to an increase in demand for reliable translation companies.

America

In the 17th century, many English people moved to America. Because the settlers came from different parts of England, the language was very different from the original place of settlement. Those who moved to Boston and the South had a big influence on the accent and speech patterns of those areas. Specifically, the Puritans moved to Boston and the Royalists moved south.

Australia

By the end of the 1700s, most convicts, mainly from the British Island, actually found their way to Australia. In contrast to the United States, Australia does not appear to differ largely in its accent from place to place.

Canada

During the American Revolution, Canada was the country that received the most loyalists from Britain. Although Canadian English sounds like American English, the spelling of some words is indicative of British influence.

India

English was introduced to Indians by the British East India Company. Because there is an array of Indian languages, English was considered the governing language and still is today.

Just as Australia did, India introduced words into the English language. Words like shampoo, pajamas, bungalows, and cash are mainly from India. India has around 125 million English speakers at present. Thus, to ensure smooth communication, we concentrate more on providing valuable translation services for marketing.
