How to Register a Death
Following documents required withEnglish translationfor registration for death cases / issue of ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for local burial / transportation of the mortal remains to India as per wishes of the family:
1. Medical report indicating the cause of death, with English translation.
2. Copy of detailed police report with English translation (in case of unnatural deaths i.e traffic accident, Industrial accident, murder, suicide etc).
3. Consent letter from family in India for local burial/transportation of mortal remains to India (duly attested by a Notary). If the family has any suspicion on the death, this may be conveyed in the consent letter so that the matter could be taken up with Saudi authorities for post mortem and police investigation. 4. Copy of Iqama and Passport (first, last and visa pages) of the deceased.
5. Copy of Identity card of Attorney (copy of passport and Iqama for foreigners (non-Saudis) / copy of Bathaqa (Identity card) for Saudi nationals.
6. Certificate from labour office confirming legal dues (Arrears of pay and Service benefits)clearances by the sponsor along with the copy of deposit slip . The legal dues amount is sent by the Embassy to the concerned district magistrate/ collector for disbursement to the legal heirs after due verification.
7. GOSI details from the sponsor in cases of industrial accidents. There is no compensation payable in cases of suicidal death.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR PURSUING THE CASE OF DEATH COMPENSATION IN PUBLIC COURTS OF SAUDI ARABIA ON BEHALF OF THE LEGAL HEIRS OF THE DECEASED IN CASE OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT/MURDER AFTER RECEIVING POLICE REPORT.
1.LEGAL HEIRSHIP CERTIFICATE (LHC)in English with Arabic Translation
This should be obtained from the competent authorities of respective state governments in India. The legal Heirship certificate should indicate the names, inFULL EXPANDED FORM(without initials) and not shortened forms of all legal heirs including minors. Age and relationship of each legal heir with deceased person should be mentioned.Guardian’s name in respect of minor childrenshould be mentioned.
Note:
i). This certificate is normally issued in India by revenue authorities of respective state (Tehsildar/Mandal/Parishad/Distt. Collector/Distt. Magistrate/Civil Judge, etc).
ii). All name should be without initials and not like short forms likeMohd/Md/Amd/Abd for Mohamed/Ahmed/AbdulsinceSaudi Authorities in court object documents with initials/shortened name forms.
iii). This document has been prepared as per requirement of Saudi courts. Therefore,NO CHANGE IN THE FORMAT OR LANGUAGE OF FORMAT SHOULD BE MADE.
2.POWER OF ATTORNEY (POA) in English with ArabicTranslation
This should be signed and executed by all the legal heirsincluding minor childrenmentioned in the legal Heirship Certificate. Persons who cannot sign should put their thumb impression (left hand thumb for male and right thumb for female).Guardian should sign compulsorily on behalf of minor legal heirs. Power of Attorney should be executed in favour of any ofyour relative/friend/representative or any other personwho can attend the court proceedings on behalf of legal heirs
(If you wish to nominate this Embassy as your legal attorney, then the Power of Attorney should be executed in favour of Ambassador of India, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) with powers to nominate a representative for claiming Death compensation on behalf of legal heirs.)
TheEnglish & Arabic versions of POA & LHC documents are to be got attestedby the authorities mentioned below before submission with court in Saudi Arabia. This is amandatory legal requirementin the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Formats of LHC & POA are approved as accepted by Saudi Public Courts. As such, no change in the language of LHC & POA should be made.
Note:
This POA is executed in my office on _____________________,(day & date) vide Sl. No. _________ in the register kept at my office. (To be filled by Notary official).
i). This document should be executed onStamp Paperin this presence of Notary Advocate or any other competent judiciary authorities. Notary or relevant authority should mention the date and Sl. No. of the document.
ii). All name should be without initials and not like short forms likeMohd/Md/Amd/Abd for Mohamed/Ahmed/AbdulsinceSaudi Authorities in court object documents with initials/shortened name forms.
iii). Sub-para (iii) in respect ofGuardian of minor legal heirsshould beCOMPULSORILYfilled.
iv). This document has been prepared as per requirement of Saudi courts. Therefore,NO CHANGE IN THE FORMAT OR LANGUAGE OF FORMAT SHOULD BE MADE.
ATTESTATION IN INDIA
I). Authorized Officers of the concerned State Government, (Home or General Administration Department), Secretariat of respective state.
II). Consular Section, Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi (or) any Branch Secretariat of Ministry of External Affairs at Kolkata/Chennai/Hyderabad.
III). Saudi Embassy, New Delhi or Saudi Consulate General, Mumbai(Optional)
Or
Embassy of India, Riyadh can attest if not got attested from Saudi Embassy, New Delhi/ Saudi Consulate Mumbai.

II). Ministry of Justice in Riyadh.
